Accessibility Statement

We aim to make our websites accessible to everyone, in line with the Austrian Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz), as amended to implement the European Accessibility Directive (Directive 2019/882). We’re continuously working to improve both usability and accessibility, so that everyone can access the information they need without difficulty.

Accessibility at a glance

We want everyone visiting our site to have a smooth user experience, whether they use assistive technologies (like a screen reader), keyboard navigation, or simply want to adjust the settings to their individual needs. We’ve already made some improvements to accessibility, but we know we can do more and are working on it.

Compliance status

We follow the standards set out in the European Accessibility Directive (Directive 2019/882) and are working to meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, as well as the European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03). We’re supported in this by the Austrian Institute of Technology, which is helping us evaluate and improve accessibility across our site.

At present, omv.com is only partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA due to the issues listed below. We are actively working on solutions to all of them.

Non-accessible content

The following content currently does not meet accessibility standards:

Submenus in the main navigation currently remain open even after moving keyboard focus away from it, and the button to close the menu cannot be accessed with the keyboard. We are already working on a fix for this bug.
The “skip to main content” link is currently non-functional, but the problem should be fixed shortly.
Individual images with map views do not currently offer a sufficiently informative textual representation of their content as an alternative. This will be added in the near future.
Data protection & OMV Gas Storage: The checkboxes in the request form for data subject rights and the subscription form for the OMV Gas Storage Newsletter have too low a contrast when focused. The design is currently being revised.

These issues are being addressed as a priority and will be resolved as quickly as possible.
